The disposal of untreated saline brine waste into the environment is no more acceptable.
Saline effluent is largely a co-product of diverse natural resource utilisation activities.
A challenge arises when conventional options for disposal of such effluent have become limited in scope or are no longer available, because of economic factors and/or concerns for environmental health.
